ABOUT ROBIN
Robin grew up in South Florida with a love for art from a very young age. Her parents supported her with art supplies (including a plastic pottery wheel) and enrollment in weekly art classes. At age 10, Robin compiled her first portfolio to submit with her application to a Performing and Visual Arts Magnet school. She was accepted into the Visual Arts Magnet program for three years and spent two hours a day in classes specializing in design, drawing, painting, mixed media, and ceramics. Although she was very young, the opportunity to explore the art world, experiment with different mediums, and create her own art left a lasting impression on her.
Robin continued to take art classes in high school, including photography, and spent her senior year creating pieces to submit with her AP Studio Art portfolio. Also during that year, she was awarded Best of Show for her work displayed at the Broward County Fair.
While attending Florida Atlantic University, Robin enrolled in several ceramics courses. She fell in love with functional pottery and enjoyed learning about every aspect of pottery from clay making, to wheel throwing, to firing and glazing.
ARTIST STATEMENT
I am currently continuing on my journey of artistic expression and creativity through painting.
I use color, light, and music as inspiration and enjoy creating different textures and trying out new brushes and palette knives. When starting with a blank canvas, I usually don’t have an end result in mind. I allow my paintings to change throughout the process and I continue to build within the paint until I am satisfied with the results.
It is refreshing to have my work interpreted by those who are able to show me something in my pieces that I may not have noticed. My hope is that my work will be a source of life and revelation to all who view it.
